Monsters of Mysthea

During the long years since the collision, new life spawned alongside humans. Some of these beings are peaceful, while others react violently to the energy of the crystal and can transform into dreadful creatures if in the line of the crystal’s power.

The creatures of Mysthea oftentimes live alongside humans in mutually beneficial cooperation. But beware, closer to the Henakor this isn't always the case!

Often, creatures are given roles in society. The less intelligent are assigned to menial tasks or chores like cleaning the streets, while the strongest and more cunning are employed by the army to defend the Kingdom.

This peaceful, and oftentimes advantageous, coexistence between monsters and people is taken for granted by the citizens of Ilvash. But those who have experience in the less-charted regions outside the city walls know that monsters can prove unpredictable and even dangerous when exposed to the wild energy of Qoam.

Creatures that are common and cooperative in the city, are known to become aggressive in certain areas of the world. When hit by the energy of the Henakor, they transform into mighty and terrifying beasts. Because of the innate volatility of employing these monsters, the city officials and the army are sure to keep its troops at a safe distance from Icaion. They are stationed in and around the city for its defence, far away from the mysterious effects of the Henakor.

So, let’s meet the first monster of Mysthea!

Caerulas, nicknamed “the inhabitant from below”, is a strange three-headed creature that appears out of the perennial storm that obscures Icaion.

Caerulas, nicknamed “the inhabitant from below”, is a strange three-headed creature that appears out of the perennial storm that obscures Icaion. Usually the creature emerges from the clouds, flies over the floating island screeching strange harmonic sounds, then disappears back below. Its appearance is similar to the rest of the mist that surrounds the planet. It could be that the monster is made of the same matter or maybe the cloud-substance just sticks to its body as it travels. For the most part, this monster ignores humanity, and all living things for that matter.

There are some strange reports, that read like tales of mad men, of interactions between Caerulas and humans. These poor souls who met the creature face on felt like it was staring into their depths, and conjuring up their greatest fears.

Or at least, this is what is reported by those who survived the encounter, since there are also many reports of people being brutally slaughtered by Caerulas, for reasons still unknown

Not all creatures are benevolent, and the harsh islands will surely mean peril for our Champions.
