The game

Mysthea is a carefully crafted fusion of hand-management and area control game, and Maliath is a simulated opponent, allowing you to play Mysthea solo, or to add a third player to a two player game. Each turn, Maliath will act based on its Command Cards and its custom Destiny Cards, react to the changing value of Regions, and fight you for control of the islands and for harvesting the monsters’ powers.

When operating Maliath, you will never have to make a decision “as if playing against yourself”. As you learn the cards Maliath uses, you will be able to partially predict its next move, thus giving you the same feel as playing against a competent opponent in multiplayer would.

Meet Maliath

The game is set in the Mysthea universe, in which several of our other titles are set: Icaion, Mysthea: the Fall, Volfyirion and Volfyirion: Guilds.

Millennia ago, the planet of Icaion was hit by the Henakor: a giant crystal of unknown origins. With staggering force, the crystal pierced through the planet shattering the planet's surface.

Chunks of crust, some of them as large as continents, detached from the planet and began floating around it, above a thick blanket of mist and clouds.

The inhabitants of these flying lands have prospered, developing a society organized into 5 Guilds. Each Guild competes with the others for control of unexplored floating islands, places filled with anomalies and strange monsters.

Maliath, who was once a valiant champion, however, wants to grab it all for herself, resorting to unfair tricks to undermine those who try to compete against her.


She has already taken one of our Champions to be used for its own purposes, hurry now, before it takes more.

Key Features:

  • Maliath can corrupt champions Led by Maliath, the champions may have new abilities, and even the way they move changes.

  • Maliath can improve its own actions Instead of scoring Attunement cards, Maliath uses Inclination markers to deny you the ability to attune yourself to certain islands.

  • Maliath can start a battle against you Instead of bidding in Battle, Maliath uses a simple Battle deck to make choices when facing you in battle.

  • Maliath can weaken monsters When facing a monster she will try to interfere with the prestige you would get beating them. But this will also weaken the monsters!

  • Challenge Cards The game experience can vary each time thanks to the Challenge Cards. The more cards you add, the tougher it becomes to overcome your enemy.
